This past weekend marked a milestone moment for the Needville community as we gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Barbara Jordan Community Center. For decades, the original center has stood as a pillar of connection and growth for local residents. Now, VCS Architects is honored to be part of its next chapter.
Our owner and principal, Derrick Vaughn, proudly joined community leaders, residents, and local officials at the ceremony to unveil the vision for the new space. Designed with both heritage and innovation in mind, the center will pay homage to its namesake, the legendary Barbara Jordan, while opening doors to new possibilities for education, engagement, and enrichment.

“At VCS Architects, we believe that great design has the power to strengthen communities,” said Vaughn. “This center is not just a building—it’s a symbol of Needville’s resilience and future growth.”
The new Barbara Jordan Community Center will feature multipurpose spaces for gatherings, educational programs, and recreational activities. It is our goal to create an environment that inspires and supports the community for generations to come.

We are grateful to the Fortbend County Parks & Recreations and the community of Needville for trusting us with this meaningful project. Stay tuned as we continue to bring this vision to life!
